We had a great March and a great Easter week!
Last Saturday, our church had an Easter Egg Hunt for the little kids. We met first in the sanctuary where they did praise and worship songs that Lydia loved! She's really quick at learning lyrics and motions to songs. Then they did a short story of Jesus' resurrection and then we headed outside to hunt for eggs. Lydia's friend Tate joined us in the 2-year old part of the hunt.
Lydia quickly filled her basket with eggs and then jumped onto a swing. When we looked at the candy at home, we were upset that Lydia couldn't eat any of it (or I wasn't willing to give it to her). So we went to the Dollar Store later that day and let her pick out some candy that she could eat. Saturday morning had been cold and cloudy, but by the afternoon, it was hot and sunny, so we decided to take Lydia's Easter pictures and they turned out great!
Monday I had my piano lessons in the morning and afternoon. I kept Lydia in the afternoon, as two of my kiddos couldn't make it that day. She did really well during the lessons and I'll probably keep her with me from now on. It's great that I can now keep her during lessons, since that was one of the reasons I wanted to give private piano lessons - staying home and letting Lydia stay home while I work. Tuesday we went to Bibleland and Lydia had a cry-free drop off and day! When I picked her up, she told me, "I no cry!" Her teacher said that she had a great day and was actually talking to them and playing with the other kids, which is always nice to hear. Wednesday I went into work to teach one music lesson and then hang out at the preschool just in case kiddos came back after their Easter parties for extended day. Luckily no one came, so I was done by 1:00! Yeah! Leah and I then made sugar cookies cut into Easter shapes to give out to our neighbors. It took almost 2 hours to make 3 batches of cookies! That evening was our friend Katie's birthday party - Lydia had a blast playing with Abram, seeing Katie's dog Anna, and holding baby Kahlil!
Thursday we had our friend Melissa with her son Tate and baby Lucy come over and do Easter crafts. We dyed hard boiled eggs and put stickers on them, and then decorated foam shapes with Easter stickers. For lunch the adults had chicken salad, crescent rolls and fruit. For the kiddos, I cut their sandwiches into Easter shapes using my cookie cutters. It was great hanging out with Melissa and Lydia loved playing with Tate and playing with baby Lucy. Friday we finished putting together our neighbor Easter bags and passed them out to our five closest neighbors. Brian was nervous at first, but it was very easy talking with our neighbors and handing out the Easter treats. Lydia really loved giving the neighbors the bags and saying hi!
Saturday we headed up to Austin after lunch. Lydia had a great time playing with her Aunt Tamara and Grandma Pfeiffer. My father-in-law, Al, taught me two chords on the guitar so I can play "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" for my kiddos at the preschool. Very cool! Lydia loved the guitar so much, she would play and sing a song and want us to clap for her. This kept her busy for a long time!
Sunday morning we left for the early service at 8:00. Lydia had a good drop off in their Sunday School and was happy when we picked her up after the service. When we got home, Daddy set up her egg hunt and Lydia went for her third Easter Egg hunt this year! She loved the Gummy Bears, chocolate and stickers Grandma put inside the eggs.
Now we're watching Jesus Christ Superstar, my favorite Easter movie! It has been a lazy Monday as my morning students weren't able to make it this morning. I have cleaned the kitchen, made pink pancakes, folded and put away some laundry, and haven't gotten out of my pajamas yet! Yeah! I love lazy days. The sun is finally coming out, so Lydia and I will probably go on a walk after lunch to enjoy the good weather.
